Role of Clinical Skill Centers in Undergraduate Dental Education: Stakeholders View

Background: The clinical skill center (CSC) offers an opportunity for students and working clinicians to learn acquire skills by using artificially simulated process, which will subsequently improve patient care safety. To promote skill-based dental education, a CSC might be considered incorporate in undergraduate education. Objectives: explore the views of stakeholders about role centers This study also identified effect training promoting maintaining teaching. Method: A cross sectional was carried out among 637 persons 11 colleges units medical Bangladesh; 5 were government 6 non-government. Study period from January 2022 December 2022. Data collected structured self-administered questionnaire, stake holders (Dental teachers, interns 3rd 4th phases BDS course). Results: With regard advantages CSC, 545 (80.4%) respondents agreed that facilitate before performing on real patient. More so, 544 (90.3%) increases scope repeated practice, 360 (64.7%) felt helped overcoming resistance patients who not interested intervene them trainees 531(88.5%) reduce error. Regarding limitations 419 (69.6%) opined establishing are very costly. Total 548 (90.9%) requires formally trained trainer, 550 (91.6%) needs supporting staffs, 533 (89%) well defined infrastructure. Conclusion: strongly suggests stakeholder’s positive perspective towards learning CSC. Medical educators, policy makers curriculum designers can use results this based establish train enhance students’ maintain patients’ Bangladesh Journal Education Vol.14(2) July 2023: 60-71
